Before booking
- Confirm every rider is comfortable with the planned grade and terrain.
- Check whether uplift, day passes, hire or coaching must be booked.
- Ask accommodation about secure bike storage, washing and drying space.
- Keep a lower-grade or weather-resistant alternative nearby.
Twenty-four hours before
- Read the official trail-status and forestry or land-manager update.
- Check weather, daylight, parking, opening hours and road disruption.
- Download the official route map and save an offline navigation option.
- Tell someone the riding plan and expected return time for remote routes.
Bike and riding kit
- Helmet, gloves, eye protection and any venue-required protective kit.
- Working brakes, suitable tyres, lubricated chain and charged electronics.
- Tube or plugs, pump, tyre levers, multi-tool, quick link and spare hanger.
- Waterproof layer, warm layer, food, water and personal medication.
At the trailhead
- Read current signs and closures even if the online page looked clear.
- Confirm the route grade, direction, distance and last safe exit point.
- Record the car-park location and emergency access information.
- Ride to the conditions, share multi-use trails and leave no trace.
