Choosing trail lines
Read entrances, surfaces and exits early enough to choose a line that matches grip and skill.

Read ahead
Alternate near and far vision.
- Identify the feature, usable surfaces and where the bike must exit.
- Notice holes, loose edges, drainage and other users.
- Choose before reaching the point where braking removes all options.
Prioritise exits
A line only works if it leaves control afterward.
- Avoid an easy entry that creates an impossible turn or obstacle.
- Use wider, smoother arcs when available and lawful.
- Stay on the intended trail rather than cutting corners or widening damage.
Learn deliberately
Review without blocking the trail.
- Walk the section safely where permitted and compare two realistic options.
- Repeat below maximum speed and notice where control changes.
- Do not follow another rider’s line without seeing what it requires.
