Build foundations
Braking, body position and wheel control come first.
- Practise level pedals, range of motion and controlled front-wheel lifts on simple ground.
- Learn with a qualified coach or progressive skills facility.
- Separate drop technique from jump technique rather than treating all airtime alike.
Inspect and decide
Walk outside the active line where permitted.
- Identify mandatory gaps, edges, landing shape, speed and alternative lines.
- Watch several riders without copying a speed blindly.
- Skip the feature when wind, surface, fatigue or queue pressure reduces margin.
Session safely
Repetition needs traffic management.
- Use a spotter where the approach is hidden.
- Clear the landing immediately and rejoin only when safe.
- Stop after deteriorating technique, a hard impact or equipment concern.
