Plan around heat
Trail temperature may exceed the headline air forecast.
- Ride earlier, choose shade and reduce distance or climbing.
- Carry adequate water and know where safe refills actually exist.
- Use sunscreen and breathable coverage appropriate to exposure.
Watch the group
Heat tolerance varies.
- Use regular drink and cooling stops before symptoms appear.
- Treat headache, dizziness, nausea, unusual fatigue or confusion seriously.
- Move to shade, cool the rider and use NHS or emergency guidance.
Protect the landscape
Dry periods increase fire consequence.
- Follow fire bans and access restrictions.
- Never discard smoking materials or use unauthorised fires.
- Park without obstructing emergency access or placing hot vehicle parts over dry vegetation.
