START RIDING
Mountain-bike cornering
Use vision, speed choice, body movement and available support to turn consistently on varied surfaces.

Approach
Most corner problems begin before the turn.
- Scan the entry, apex area, exit and any traffic beyond it.
- Complete heavy braking early and choose a usable line.
- Set pedals and body position before steering demand rises.
Turn
Let bike lean and body pressure respond to the corner shape.
- Keep vision moving toward the exit instead of staring at the front tyre.
- Weight the available grip without forcing a rigid pose.
- Use berm support progressively; do not assume every bank has a clean exit.
Progress
Practise one repeatable corner, not random speed.
- Begin on flat open turns, then add berms, gradient or loose surfaces separately.
- Change entry speed in small increments.
- Use coaching if fear, braking or body position prevents consistent exits.
