Reporting trail hazards and closures
Describe damage accurately to the responsible operator without attempting unauthorised repairs or creating new risk.

Protect the scene
Do not place yourself in the path of approaching riders.
- Move clear and warn others only where it can be done safely.
- Follow emergency procedures for an active incident.
- Obey closures even when the hazard is not visible from the entrance.
Make a useful report
Use the land manager’s official contact route.
- Give trail name, direction, nearest marker or grid reference and time observed.
- Describe the hazard objectively and include a safe photograph only if permitted.
- State whether the trail is blocked and whether an incident has occurred.
Do not improvise
Changes can worsen drainage or feature safety.
- Do not cut trees, move constructed features or build bypasses.
- Do not publish unverified closure claims as fact.
- Check the official status before a return visit.
