Before booking

Ask the operating carrier, not only a comparison website.

  • Confirm bicycle reservation, dimensions, weight, fees and check-in time.
  • Check whether foot passengers wheel bikes aboard or require packaging.
  • Verify every connecting rail, coach or transfer separately.

Pack and document

Protect vulnerable parts and make reassembly possible.

  • Follow carrier rules for bars, pedals, tyres, tools and gas cartridges.
  • Photograph the packed bike and carry essential assembly tools lawfully.
  • Keep frame number, insurance and destination workshop details accessible.

Battery restrictions

Large lithium batteries are commonly prohibited from passenger flights.

  • Never conceal or misdescribe an e-bike battery.
  • Ask about compliant battery hire at the destination.
  • Follow ferry and tunnel rules for transport, isolation and damage.
