Dropper-post setup and care

Set usable height and lever reach, keep the post clean and recognise faults before a descent.

Fit and position

Frame insertion and saddle hardware limits still apply.

  • Choose travel that allows full pedalling height without exceeding frame or post limits.
  • Place the lever within easy reach while maintaining secure braking grip.
  • Route cables or hoses clear of steering and suspension movement.

Use it deliberately

Practise before technical terrain.

  • Lower the saddle before descending, drops or steep corners.
  • Return to full height for efficient seated climbing.
  • Avoid unweighting mistakes that cause an unexpected rise under the rider.

Care and faults

Follow the exact post’s service guidance.

  • Keep the shaft clean and avoid lifting the bike by the saddle when prohibited.
  • Investigate sinking, excessive play, slow return or oil leakage.
  • Respect pressure and cartridge warnings; some internal work requires specialist service.
