Harden the space

Assess doors, hinges, windows and surrounding visibility.

  • Use suitable locks and protect exposed hinges or weak panels.
  • Install a rated ground or wall anchor into an appropriate structure.
  • Avoid storing tools beside the bike that help defeat security.

Lock and record

Layered security also supports recovery.

  • Lock the frame to the anchor with an insurer-compliant lock.
  • Record serial numbers, photographs, receipts and modifications.
  • Register the bike and keep records somewhere separate from the storage area.

Battery and access safety

Security must not create a fire or escape hazard.

  • Do not block exits with bikes, cables or chargers.
  • Charge e-bike batteries according to maker and fire-service guidance.
  • Keep keys secure without making emergency access impossible.
