PLAN A TRIP

Trail photography and action cameras

Capture riding without blocking trails, distracting riders or ignoring other people’s privacy.

Reviewed · General UK planning guidance · Check current operator and manufacturer information

Choose a safe position

Inspect the entire approach and run-out.

  • Stand fully outside the riding line with an escape route.
  • Never place equipment on blind corners, take-offs, landings or shared paths.
  • Use a spotter where approaching riders cannot see the photographer.

Consent and privacy

Public access does not remove courtesy or data-protection considerations.

  • Ask before making an identifiable rider the subject, especially a child.
  • Do not reveal sensitive unofficial trail locations or private property.
  • Respect venue rules for drones, commercial filming and tripods.

Action cameras

Mounts must not compromise protective equipment.

  • Follow helmet and camera manufacturers’ mounting advice.
  • Secure tethers and check the camera cannot interfere with controls.
  • Set recording before moving; never operate a screen while descending.
