PLAN A TRIP
Trail photography and action cameras
Capture riding without blocking trails, distracting riders or ignoring other people’s privacy.
Reviewed · General UK planning guidance · Check current operator and manufacturer information
Choose a safe position
Inspect the entire approach and run-out.
- Stand fully outside the riding line with an escape route.
- Never place equipment on blind corners, take-offs, landings or shared paths.
- Use a spotter where approaching riders cannot see the photographer.
Consent and privacy
Public access does not remove courtesy or data-protection considerations.
- Ask before making an identifiable rider the subject, especially a child.
- Do not reveal sensitive unofficial trail locations or private property.
- Respect venue rules for drones, commercial filming and tripods.
Action cameras
Mounts must not compromise protective equipment.
- Follow helmet and camera manufacturers’ mounting advice.
- Secure tethers and check the camera cannot interfere with controls.
- Set recording before moving; never operate a screen while descending.
