Wheel and tyre inspection
Check pressure, casing, tread, spokes, rims and hub play before impacts turn small faults into failures.

Tyres
Pressure must suit the system, rider and terrain.
- Inspect tread, sidewalls and beads for cuts, cracking or exposed casing.
- Use a gauge and remain within all tyre and rim limits.
- Investigate repeated pressure loss before adding more sealant or air.
Rims and spokes
Spin each wheel and look from several angles.
- Check for dents, cracks, loose or broken spokes and sudden changes in tension.
- Confirm the rim remains compatible with tubeless use after an impact.
- Do not attempt major truing without understanding spoke tension and wheel structure.
Hubs and axles
Wheel retention is safety-critical.
- Secure axles to the maker’s instructions and verify lever position where applicable.
- Check for side play, rough bearings and abnormal freehub behaviour.
- Recheck after transporting a bike with wheels removed.
